HR was always something that I have been passionate about. I'm passionate about the difference that people make to organizational performance. That's what
makes me tick, and at the moment, I feel privileged because I work for an
organization that really makes a difference; and so I get to combine what I love in an organization that actually does something very worthwhile.

I think one of the ways that the CIPD membership really is effective is it first of all
it gives you kind of confidence in your professional ability.  Professional membership, professional learning, professional accreditation, peer-to-peer interaction are ways in which you not only learn - but I think equips you to be a really strong HR professional.

This is our Chartered Institute. This is our kind of quality assurance, if you like. So, there's something about it, actually; kind of - gives you the first foot in the door, when you're saying, 'you should employ me' or even within an organization, 'give me this role I'm interested in, I can make a difference here'.

For me, the best thing about being a fellow CIPD is actually what it enables me to access, on behalf of my broader HR team. So, I continue to focus on my own development; but the biggest thing for me these days is, actually how I utilise that to develop and encouge the development of the team, that I that I work with; colleagues, that I'm building my successors in the pipeline.
